Travel to Hyderabad
Discover Hyderabad
Hyderabad is the capital of southern India's Telangana state. A major centre for the technology industry, it's home to many upmarket restaurants and shops. The Old City of Hyderabad is steeped in history and echoes of a more regal era. It was once the capital city of the Nizam, the ruler of the richest princely state, and the twin city of Secunderabad. Here, the British established a military base to be close to the Nizam. It is worth taking time out to see this area.
Medical services in Hyderabad are good and there's a choice of good hospitals and clinics. The city is fairly safe and there's also a good choice of banks, travel agents, currency exchange places, hospitals, pharmacies and some excellent restaurants.
Sports are extremely popular in Hyderabad, so if you're passionate about golf you have five excellent courses to choose from, or pick up a tennis racket and have a game at one of the city's tennis courts. Find out more about the spiritualism of the region at the Buddhist temples, or go hunting for exquisite jewellery in the city's boutiques.
